Question:

I need HELP removing fusion hair extensions bonded by keratin?

I put in fusion hair extensions in my hair about a month ago. They are keratin bonded. I have managed to get all of the strands of hair out, but still have basically all the glue left in my hair. I tried using the hair remover lotion, but it didn't make a bit of difference. I wanted to try nail polish remover with acetone, but do not want it to ruin my hair texture. I heard vinegar or oils work, but I don't know how I should apply it. Should I use a shower cap to hold it in, or cotton balls? I put the extensions in myself, which was incredible simple in comparison to removing them! I really don't want to pay a salon to remove the glue. If you have any suggestions that would be amazing!! THANKS!!!****

  1. Removal of hair extensions can be done by a professional or you can remove them yourself at home. Hair extensions can be removed by applying an adhesive remover or solvent and by gently massaging the adhesive to loosen and remove.

and i also got this from another yahoo answers

ok first off, don’t panic! If you panic, you may begin ripping out the extensions and taking your natural hair with it…believe me ive seen it! I am a stylist, and extensions are wonderful, you just have to know how to take care of them. Here is the trick…and I guarantee it works for all hair extension glue…..get acetone at a beauty supply store (it CANNOT be plain nail polish remover, it MUST be 100% PURE ACETONE) put it in a non-plastic bowl…try a ceramic bowl. (it can damage plastic). Take your fingers and dip them in the acetone and gently roll the bond with your fingers…the bond should quickly start dissolving and falling apart. I know it sounds really gross, but hey we were all kids once…roll the bond as if you were rolling a booger or something between your fingers  haha everyone laughs when I say that but they know exactly what I am talking about! Anyways, make sure you put enough acetone on your fingers and roll the bonds. It may take you about an hour or two, but it will all come out. I promise. Just please have patience or ask a friend for help so you don’t rip out your hair! Ps: the acetone will not damage your hair at all, I have bleach blonde platinum hair and it has never damaged my hair or dried it out in all the years I have had extensions. Good luck and please be gentle!

  2. I havent tried this with hair fused with kerartin so it MIGHT not work becuase keratin is basically protein and is very strong when bonded, but when I do other hair extensions the only thing that I find works really good is using baby oil. When I take out mine or a clients I always use it, just a warning though you will probably need 2 bottles if you have alot in there or really thick hair, alls youdo is rub it in there and leave it on for a while and then peel it off your hair strand, and dont get freaked out because you will probably lose alot of hair when the gunk comes out because when you fuse you lose ALOT of hair, also your hair will be really greasy and depending on the condition of your hair you might wanna shampoo afterwards with dish soap to get the grease out only do this if your hair is heathy tho! But your hair will be greasy for a few days, i have never done this with fusion extensions so I am not gaurunteeing anything, but it always works for me! Hope i was helpfull!
