Question:

I need Help with My Cats(Conflict between a few)?

Alright, a few years back a stray cat from a poor owner down the block or so(educated guess since it's seems it's happened before)appeared and we basically took her in. She would have kittens in our back yard, but they would always die... Well, actually, they would disappear. Again, it's just an educated guess. Anyways, eventually her fourth litter or so(we never managed to get her to the vet)her kittens survived. But around the weaning period as they kept following her, she would hiss and run off. She disappeared, the last time she came back, she ran away at the sight of one of her daughters. I haven't seen her since. Eventually we managed to fix one of the cats, but the other one ended up having kittens.(They were born on July 5, 2008) Caster(one of the two cats from the last litter) is scared of the kittens. She can't hang around them for more than...ten seconds or so. She can only bear being close for that long when I'm petting her and trying to keep her calm. The kittens, Sylvester and Ora, used to hiss at her and arch their backs(which didn't help at all), but they've seemed to lose most of their fear for her. They've began to leave their home, and I'm worried that they may scare away Caster.(These cats live outside, they have shelter, but they are outside) Furthermore their mother Tiger, the other cat from the last litter, might react to their growing up like her mother....and I'd really hate to lose my pets. I'm not a cat lady or anything, but it's not like you don't get attatched to those furballs after a while. Plus I've lost a lot of my pets in my life...like...twelve or so at least... Point is if anyone could tell me how to fix this problem between my cats and such, I'd really appreciate it.

  1. sorry to long to read. Put them in a box and let them work it out or one kills the other one.

  2. The kittens can probably sense that the adult cat is scared of them so they will push it as far as they can. But if you just gradually re-introduce them to each other baby step by baby step they will get used to it.Do it in an environment that the scared cat is comfortable in. At first take blankets, toys, food and water dishes, the floor and let the kittens crawl all over while the scared cat isn't in there, get their scents all over the stuff. Let them go in the scared one's litter box. Next take the kittens and lock them out while you have the scared cat in the room from the first step. Let the scared cat get very comfortable and used to the kitten's scents. Keep the scared cat in that room for a few weeks. Then have someone just quickly walk by the scared cat with a kitten in their arms then keep gradually letting her see the kittens more and more and if the kittens are mean bop them on the head. As for the other cat at weaning time completely seperate them until the kittens are very much older.

  3. Please be a responsible pet owner and get your cats fixed. It is better for the health of the animal and it will prevent litters and litters of homeless cats. Look for a snip clinic in your area, they are inexpensive.
