You'll need to check first that the domain name is available for your name. When we were coming up with a name for our company we scribbled down lots of descriptive words related to what we do and then used some domain checking tools to see if they are available.

There is a domain suggestion tool using keywords on http://www.freeparking.co.uk (and probably on lots more too!).

Another good idea would be to see whether there are any existing domains that have already been registered are due to expire. If you use a previously established domain name (many of which can be bought cheaply) it could give you a head start in the search engines who like to see more aged domains with a history.

You can get some help by investigating other websites in your sector too - a good place for this would be website galleries and showcases such as http://www.thefwa.com/.
