  2. if it is a boy, give him the name Shan. Perfectly normal English name, in Arabic it means fame, honour, respect.

if it's a girl, you can name her Amira- means queen,, or wife of the king.

Do you have to find a name from Quran ?

At where I live ( many people are named things like sea, oak ,war,peace,water,river,moon,sunrise,deep... etc in the language we  speak) ( somewhere in the Middle East ).

My brother is married in France. They gave their son the name Jan. (john) Pronounced  in here, it is a common boy's name., meaning life. They gave their daughter the name Denise. Pronounced here, it means sea, very common name.

Here is what I advise you to do.

Find short English names, and let your husband read them, and find ones that have nice meanings in Arabic.

Let him make list of short names  in Arabic or whatever language and you look at them.

Find short names meaningful both in English and in Arabic or wherever he is from. Both of you should like the name, not us.

    Congratulations beforehand.

Let him tell you the names of the months in Arabic or whatever language. For a girl, you may like the sound of april or may..  I saw someone proposed Harroon for a boy.. It is Aaron, but has another implication. An Arabic or  Persian king named Haroon was so very rich that it implies richness.Farrah means  joy, and noone will find the name odd because of Farrah Fawcett- that is if you like her. Hana means happiness and it is a little like Hannah. It may be suitable for a girl.Yasmin almost sounds the same (Jasmine) and also has the same meaning in both languages and can be a nice girl's name.

  3. Maria is a good Catholic and Muslim name. Maria was the Prophet's youngest wife. She was an Egyptian Copt before accepting Islam.

Javaria and Sophia were the Prophet's formerly Jewish wives.

Nuh doesn't work in English. You could just stick with Noah.

My friend named her daughter Jenin to support Palestine.
