I need Sour pickles in order to make my Granddaddys sweet pickles...any suggestions on making sour pickles?

  1. Sour Pickles

    36 small pickling cucumbers  

    1 quart cider vinegar  

    2 quarts water  

    1 cup canning salt  

    dill weed  

    garlic  peeled and smashed but not chopped.

    Wash cucumbers.

    Place in quart jars with 3 cloves of garlic and several sprigs of dill per bottle

    Combine vinegar, salt and water.

    Bring to a boil and pour over cucumbers in the jars to with in 1/2 inch of the top.


  2. Contact your local green grocer or vegetable wholesaler.

    Yellow pages or online, may provide answers.

    Good luck.

    The pickle brine is white vinegar, sugar, pickling spice and mustard seed.
