Question:

I need Wedding Centerpiece Ideas for a red and white wedding!

My September wedding planning is done! All except the centerpieces, that is. The wedding is going to be at a beautiful botanical garden with close family only. Then the reception will be held at a different location for all family and friends. We have rented a "house" adjoining a popular Italian restaurant that is on the water and has an "antique-type" feel. The colors of my wedding are red and white. Does anyone have any ideas for simple, inexpensive yet elegant centerpieces?

  1. Google images for me is the greatest source of inspiration.  Here are a few I found running a "red and white centerpiece" search on google:

I really love this one: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2083/1508...

  3. If you want tall centerpeices, go for red roses. Since you are on a budget, but want the antique feel, use a glass vase, but instead of just pebbles fo filler use black pebbles and antique-looking buttons/charms (gold, silver, bronze - whatever, just stick to metallic) in water. Another floral idea for this would be white cherry blossoms and p***y willow. You could alternate tables and do both, so you have red and white.

If you want shorter centerpieces, I would square votives. Use glass votives that can have pictures pasted on the sides and get some pictures of you and your hubby-to-be printed in either black and white (for your colors) or sepia (antique) - which ever you prefer. Use mod-podge type glue and paste the picture onto the side and luminate with a tea light - use a couple per table and toss some red rose petals around it.

OR, another short centerpiece idea is get a glass cake pan for each table (or a short, square glass vase that is atleast 8x8) and line the ouside with grosgrain ribbon (you can find tons of designs and colors really cheap at a craft store), so you can't see in the sides at all. Get a block of floral foam (also cheap at a craft store) and fill the pan. Then arange flowers in the foam (carnations look really good in this), so you just see the bloom, no steam. Then surround your finsihed centerpiece with some tealights. With this idea you could include red and white in each centerpiece or alternate tables - whichever you prefer.

Congrats on your wedding and good luck!

  4. I was planning my friends wedding and we had a similar situation. Her wedding colors were red and white as well.

What we did was very cute and inexpensive. We found these cheap wine glasses at a dollar store, filled them with water and added a few of those cute stones you get for decorating. Then we red dropped food coloring in the glasses. After that we added some rose petals around the bottom of the glass and surrounded it by those small candles in the little glasses you can get at Walmart. It was simple, elegant and inexpensive. Each centerpiece costs around 8 dollars.

I also went to a wedding where each table had a mini cake with red icing as the centerpiece with fake silk flowers spread around it. It was really lovely. Each table had their own cake instead of just the main wedding cake. The mother of the bride at that wedding baked the cakes herself and she said each one was about 10 dollars to make.

Those are just a few suggestions. Congratulations on the upcoming wedding. I wish you the best.

  5. Go to a thrift shop, flea market, or antique store and purchase all different white vases; you can even use white pitchers.  Place the different vases or pitchers on the tables and fill them with red flowers (they don't have to be roses, gerbera daisies or red carnations will do the trick as well).  You can even use silk flowers!

  6. Possibly?

  7. Red roses in antique vases.

  8. awesome!! my wedding was champagne and red themed. what we did was went to the closest craft store and bought spray can "frosting" to make frosted glass. we then bought very antique looking vases and frosted them. next, we bought (plastic) chipped glass looking beads and filled the bottom of the vases, enough to be a nice support for a candle. finally, we bought red candles that burned red. as the candles burned, the red wax seaped through the chipped beads, creating an awesome "veined" look. with the frosted vases, it just made it look so elegant, yet vintage at the same time. we then sprinkled the table with silk rose pedals, sprayed with a very fine gold sparkle. set off the glow nicely.

of course what you could do is just go out and get stuff for a few ideas and just make one. set it out a table or coffee table for a week or so and see how you like them. you won't be wasting the money then because you can always use them for decoration at home or housewarming gifts! its always fun to be creative!

  9. How about white candles in small hurricane glasses? Then, you could put red and white flowers or rose petals around the bases. That should look good in almost any setting.

If it looks too plain, you could place a mirror in the middle of the table and then create the centerpiece on top of that. It would reflect more light as well as the rose petals above, and you could probably get frameless mirrors at a dollar store.
