I need Your Help PLEASE?

I'm having trouble picking a good setting for a book. I really need ideas for where my novel should take place. It's a very diverse environment. I really do not want it to take place in Los Angeles because it sounds cliche. What are some good places for an adolescent/young adult novel to take place? Furthermore, which is a better environment for the novel to take place a boarding school, public high school or a private school?

i suggest using a place you know really well, if you can't think of one, then make one up. the same thing applies to the school question, use the one you went to so that your writing will be more believable

Why not Africa, it sounds pretty different and might be a bit of a scare at first but you could try it. i love the idea of a boarding school!!! if not then somewhere snowy???
