Well It's mainly going to be used for gaming, plus I was going to buy FREESAT (High Definition Free View) for it too#

Now being only 32inch do I REALLY need a full HD quality or would the other definitions like 720p do fine? (will there be a big difference or not?)

Thanks

  1. 720p is good too...I have a 32 in LCD  HDTV television and you can change the setting to 420p 720p 1080i etc...I don't notice a big difference when I change them.

  2. Full HD is 1080p not 1080i

  3. On a  32 inch set you probably won't be able to see the difference between 720p and 1080p at a normal viewing distance.  Most experts agree that the difference isn't noticeable on screens under 40 inches.

  4. For a 32" screen, you will not notice a difference between 1080 and 720 if you are more than about 7 feet from the screen.

    See the following chart:

  5. no need to go for full hd as you wont be able to tell the difference. You can tell the difference on tv's over 42inch.

Stick to the standard hd and get a top surround system with the difference in money makes a huge difference in sound if your using it for games.

i have the onkyo sr605 and kef 3005se using a ps3 and the gaming experience is awesome.

  6. Don't confuse formats with the display resolution.

1080i, 1080p, 720p, 480i are video formats. A set will accept some formats, and not accept others.

The screen of the set has a fixed resolution. 768 lines is typical today. Internally the set converts all formats it accepts to fit the display. The difference in performance is a product of what each format can provide as source material for the display.

You will have a hard time finding a set that does not accept both 1080i and 720p.

1080p is the next step, and is not the highest, although is the highest of commonly available consumer products.

1080p is and will not be available for over the air broadcasts.
