Right now I drive a 2 door Grand AM GT so I am familiar with Pontiac's and I just recently found out I am pregnant so I will need at least a 4 door car. I have looked into the G6 as a co-worker of mine has one, but I haven't really gotten a good look at the G8. I'm also open to other suggestions and the Honda Accord looks nice. Help!

  1. If you are familiar with Pontiacs then I am going to recommend the Vibe. Its a Corolla under Pontiac Logo. Its Fraternal Twin is the Matrix. That should give you an Idea. I've one. No complaints. I believe employee Pricing is going on as well for certain dealerships. I did drive the G6 & G8. They are very powerful cars. Very dependable. A G6 got me through a raging snow storm (6-7 inches) without complaint. In my books that's Super Reliable.

Like someone else has already recommended, I am going to Recommend Chevy Malibu as well.  If you like your Grand Am, look at the Chevy Cobalt as well. Fairly similar car.

Keeping in mind you need plenty of space in the back for a rear facing car seat, other Choices would be

Honda Civic - Hybrid or normal your pick.

Nissan Altima - Lots room. Somehow don't like Sentra.

    Mitsubishi Lancer - Nice Engine.

Toyota Corolla - Not as zippy as the grand Am, very reliable.

    Mazda 6 - Comparable to the G8

    Good Luck with the Pregnancy!

  2. First choice: Honda Accord

    Price: LX $20360 to EX-L $28060

    MPG: 19 / 24

    Honda Civic

    Price: DX $15010 - EX L $19900

    MPG: 25 / 36

    Second Choice:

    Toyota Camry

I have a 2006 Toyota Avalon, great safe car, mpg 25/32, and also own a 2005 Honda Accord EX V6, great fast little car, but is not as comfortable and better MPG than the Avalon.  I would stay with either Toyota or Honda, parts are easy to found, repair not over expensive, great dependable cars.

    Good luck with the pregnancy.

  3. Lincoln MKZ or MKS

  4. I don't know your feelings on Pontiac's, but any Pontiac we have ever had has been well below average compared to other cars in its class.

I would consider the Nissan Altima and the Honda Accord, first. Consumer reports rates these 2 the best in their class.

If you would prefer buying an American nameplate, the Chevy Malibu and Ford Fusion will be your best bets.

  5. Congratulations! First I would look at a couple styles that you like, then look us the crash test ratings. Also cost is usually a factor so find out what is going to be in your price range and what different dealerships will give you as a trade in on your current car. Then you can decide to do a trade in or try to sell it yourself. Also look for who is doing what type of deal. A lot of GM dealerships around me are doing a 0% interest for 60 months on certain styles. Personally for a full size car I like the Buick Lucerne and the Volvo S80 (noted one of the safest cars in the world). Bottom like is you need to like the car you get and feel comfortable driving it. One other thing to note is if you are used to driving a Pontiac and switch to a Honda it might take a bit to get used to how the things like lights and wind shield wipers work differently. My husband owns a Toyota and I still get confused when i drive his car because I have always had a GM car.

    Best of Luck!
