I had a really good ferrier but there was an emergency so i was not home one day and missed an apointment. We called and apologized but he never called back. I live around Shawano county in Wisconsin. If anyone knows a good ferrier in or around this area that would be very helpful. Or if you know of a way I can serch for one that would help to.

Thanks

  1. I am in Illinois, so I can't help you literally. BUT, check out

    AmericanFarriers.org

    midweststablesdirectory.org

--its out of date, but there are names on there

Do a google search of farrier+wisconsin

***Isn't there a wisconsin horse forum or something? I know there is one in Illinois, where you have horse people on from all over the state and we help each other out with stuff like this. If you can't find the Wisconsin one, go to Illinoishorse.com- there are some wisc. people on there, they can maybe help you.

Good farriers are hard to find, can you tell I have been trying to find one? ;-)

  2. Good farriers are hard to find, so I sympathize with your plight.

It was rude of you not to let your other farrier know you'd have to cancel the appointment. He could have used his time better (maybe by taking someone on a waiting list, or doing a second horse at his next location), and you cost him part of his livelihood. No wonder he didn't call you back! How is he to know it won't happen again?

As far as finding a new guy, call your horse vet and get recommendations from him/her.

(FYI, a "ferrier" is a person who sails a ferry. A "farrier" shoes horses)

  3. I'd call him once more to apologize. and if you get no results :

go to the vet and ask/look for one

    look in the phone book

ask ppl you know with horses who they use

put up an add at the vets and ask for a farrier

    good luck
