We draw a cookie jar on the magnet board with enough star shaped cookies for everyone in the class.  I can't think of the tune but you could probably put it to your own tune.

There were ___ little cookies in the cookie jar

There were ___ little cookies shaped like a star

Well, along came (child's name) from very very far

And she/he took one cookie from the cookie jar.
