  2. The Catalan restaurant called Madrid-Barcelona is excellent and on Calle Mallorca.

  3. There is a great place called "Buenas Migas" Foccaceria  Mediterrranean style food with an italian accent..(there are several in Barcelona) They have their own website:

    Website : http//www.buenasmigas.com

Focaccia derives its name from the latin word focus, meaning Hearth (fire place). It is a hearth bread, which differs from everyday bread as it is stretched during three hours and because it is topped with olive and salt. Historically in the city of Genova, focaccia was cooked with communal ovens. As soon as the baker had raked the fire out to prepare the ashes needed for cooking the loaves, the villagers made use of the empty oven by cooking their own dough. For centuries focaccia has been enjoyed by Genovese fishermen, along with a glass of white wine, before setting off the sea. Its simple Mediterranean recipe makes focaccia a popular dish. Nowadays it is eaten all over the world with a wide range of toppings.

Sweet and salted. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast based on toasts with a wide variety of jams, sweet focaccias, natural made with yogurts and fresh juice. What about lunch and dinner? More focaccias. Sweet and salted, with any kind of condiment. Pasta salads, homemade soups, pastas cooked in the oven, vegetable cakes... Deserts? Wide range offer of cakes from the ones we highlight the one of Riccota & Mascarpone. But the real concept of this place comes is his "homier" touch: in food and place environment. The design of the place is rustic and really cosy, constructed with wood based materials, which gives a certain credibility to the rural image and quality of the products.

    More addresses: Plaça Bonsuccés, 6. T:93 318 37 08, (Metro L3 Catalunya). Baixada de Santa Clara, 2. T: 93 319 13 80. (Metro L4 Jaume I). Plaça del Mar, 1. T:93 221 63 16. (Metro L4 Barceloneta). Maremagnum, Plaça de l'Odissea. T: 93 225 81 15. (Metro L3 Drassanes).

    Cuines Santa Caterina

in the Mercat Santa Caterina  (it's just off Via Laietana). Really great food, medium prices... (I definitely enjoyed the food and the atmosphere in this restaurant)

    For TAPAS:

    Ciudad Condal

    Rambla de Catalunya, 18

    Prices : Tapas from 1,50€ to 10 €

Ciudad Condal is the old name of Barcelona. The place is known for its large choice of beers and for its tapas. Always full inside, nice wooden decoration, as well as outside where there is a typical terrace on the middle of Rambla Catalunya. It's a very good address. A first look you might think that it's quite commercial (rapidity of the service, waiters waiting for you) but once you tried the tapas you understand that working people or connoisseurs are here to have a good lunch. All kinds of tapas, desserts, fine wines.

Bilbao-Berria (basque style tapas called PINTXOS)

    Plaça Nova, 3

    Barrio Gótico

    Prices : moderate

On the cathedral square, Bilbao-Berria is another terrace that is very appreciated by locals. Very colorful and delicious pintxos. Try also seafood. Just fine.

    Quimet & Quimet

Address : C/Poeta Cabanyes, 25 (just off the Avinguda del Paral-lel)

    Prices : Tapas from 1,50€ to 10€

It's a great tapas bar, especially for cheese and mussels. One of the more fantastic wine cellars of Barcelona .Order other delights such as mussels with tomato, navajas, or any of the original "montaditos".

These are just a very few...

There are hundreds of great places to eat in Barcelona (avoid those very near to the Sagrada Familia, they tend to be over-expensive and over-rated tourist traps)!

A tip, if you just walk around, look in the places where you find crowds of local people speaking catalan, and laughing over the food...That is the best reccomendation!

    Enjoy your visit!
