  1. Is your access to your funds really denied? Do you in fact have any funds in your account? If the answer is yes to either question. You need to follow up with paypal. If the answer is no than ignore the request.  Sounds like a phising expeditions.

  2. This e-mail did NOT come from PayPal!  PayPal does not ask for SSNs at present unless you have an interest-bearing account; I've had a PayPal account almost since they started and they still don't have my SSN.

This is a SCAM!  Do NOT click on the link in the e-mail!  Your details will be provided to a scam artist who will use it for identity theft purposes if you do!

Open a fresh browser window and manually type in  www.paypal.com and log in to your account.  If there are any system messages for you, it will tell you as soon as you log on.  While you're there, change your account password to something complex.  Your password should be at least 10 characters long and be a mix of upper and lower case letters with some numbers and other characters added in.  It should not be easy to guess or be a real word in a dictionary.

You should also forward that e-mail to Spoof@PayPal.com and they will try to track down the criminals who are trying to scam you.  At the least they may be able to shut down the fraudulent site.

  3. This sounds like a "phishing" attempt to get you SS#.  You should forward that message to both e-bay and PayPal.  They both have very strong anti phishing programs.  Make sure that you go directly into your account when sending them a copy of the phishing message.

  4. Be careful.

This might not be truely from PayPal, but rather a phishing scheme to get your social security number.

  5. Call PayPal and find out if this is true.  Do not contact them via email until this is resolved.

  6. Independent of the email, go to the web and *manually* signon to Paypal.

If you get the *same* message, then you have a real problem.  You can email Paypal support using the contact link--I've found them to be quite helpful.

  7. OMG do NOT click on that link! It is a hacker trying to get your info! I got one of those before. Forward it to spoof@paypal.com immediately.
