I own a Johnson 20r69d 1969 outboard boat motor. The boat came with a mercury/Kiekhaufer shifter box. I can get the throttle to work but the shifter will not pull the shifter handle on the motor far enough to shift into forward. I tried to adjust the gears many times but there is no way that will work. Should I just get a universal dual shifter? will I have to buy new cables too? I'm just looking for the best way to do this without spending a lot of money.

If you want a new OEM go to IBoats .com everything you could ever want or need for boating is there

  2. I bought an older shifter set for my Merc. on Ebay. It worked great.
