  1. go to goodwill, they have lots of old bikes usually.

  2. the best place to get a bike is probably Toys R Us, Target, and maybe a good place that sells quality bikes.

  3. I don't have a problem buying from Wal Mart, Target etc. for kids bikes. However, if you what something that will handle jumping, ramps etc. a $70 bike will blow up before fall. Be prepared to do a lot of repair work and parts replacement. I hope your kid does get hurt though. Make sure to inspect the bike every few rides.

  4. Walmart would be you're ideal place to get a stury bike for that price range. If by chance it does break down withinn like 3-6 months you can always bring it back for an exchange. I have for kids, all boys but one ages 18 and down. We bought our younget boy a bike for christmas form walmart. Like most boys he's rough on them going on ramps and what not. You don't have to get a $100 bike from there either. $49-65 would do

  5. I have been seeing very nice bikes at garage sales for $10-40. Many in good or new condition. Keep your eyes peeled.

  6. go to wal-mart and purchase a cheap one if they are going to jumping and ramping and rough houseing. you can afford to buy another one if that one breaks. but i wouldnt go all out and get anything expensive. the way kids tear stuff up these days just because they know they can always get a new one. yeah try wal-mart/k-mart. cheap cheap cheap

  7. do not go to WalMart! I just bought a new Fisher for my 9 yr old (yesterday actually). I know I preach against Wallywood, et al, but for good reason. my wife and I did go to WalMart, and looked. there were NOTICABLE welding defects on 50% of the bikes on the floor. not to mention they are poorly assembled. your kid is gonna get scraped up enough jumping and thrashing on his bike! please don't buy him a bike destined to break whilst he's riding it! he could end up more seriously injured as a result. also, the average cost of repairing a WalMart bike, is greater than the cost of the bike! by fall youll have possibly spent more than I have, given I have 1 year of service & a lifetime warranty on the frame..

sure, I paid $300, intended to stay sub $200, but I at least have peice of mind! we ended up getting more bike (multi-speed instead of single-speed), as the kids bikes are selling out quickly this year..

    good luck, whatever your decision
