It is the old fashioned sort that works with paraffin vapour.

  1. Yes it is, but I'd rather spend a tenner on a new gas one  - they're a lot safer, and you can only use a paraffin one upright - there's a bit of an art to it.

  2. Maybe pay a little more for a better one.

  3. I remember my Dad using one and am pretty sure it looked like that-he just pumped the plunger and lit it.

  4. It is a cool looking old torch, but I wouldn't count on using it for plumbing if that's what you had in mind.

  6. can you still get paraffin..?

  7. Looks complete but it wont work if any leaks. Messy to light as well.

Why not spend your money on a cheap gas model?

  8. This is an antique, looks great, but it should not be used in this 21 st centuary.   Do yourself a favour and buy a gas type, or an electric paint stripper if that was your intention.

  9. Don't waste your money buy a gas one much better than that old thing, Unless you only want it for ornamental purposes.
