  1. Look on ebay or boating forums like www.thehulltruth.com check the boat trader in your area, even local boat dealer or marina

  2. Most people selling used trailers have boats included with them.  Buying a new trailer is not a bad idea if your boat is half decent.  If you get a used trailer it may have bad brakes, wiring, rusted axles, etc. and fixing it could make it cost as much as new.  It would be a stroke of luck to find a used trailer for a good deal that is right for your boat.

  3. Galvanized is the way to go. You can buy a new one for a new price, but finding a used one is the way to go, especially if it's just a freshwater trailer. When you're looking at a used trailer, there are only a few things you can check for without the boat being on it. First, bring a floor jack w/ you and jack up all 4 of the wheels and spin them by hand to listen to the wheel bearings. They have a distinct rumble when they're going bad, you should be able to tell. Then, check the leaf springs, check all nuts and bolts for electrolysis (if salt water), and inspect the brake lines. Also, look at the tires and check for dryrot. Boat trailers tend to sit a lot, and dryrot from sitting, especially in the sun, will kill the tires. Basically, you can pick up a used trailer to fit your boat, put new brakes lines, tires and new bearings in it and have 3/4 of the money you would have spent on a new trailer in a used trailer that is pretty much new after that work. If you're mechanically experienced at all and don't mind getting your hands a little dirty, used may be the way to go...I have a couple used trailers kicking around if you're interested..
