I know a book called "Enciclopedia de Costa Rica - su historia tierra y gentes" 2 volumes and each with 367+/-

It is publish by  "Grupo Editorial Océano" perhaps you can find it in english

The only books I know about that are available on the history of Costa Rica in English are around 200 pages.
