Question:

I need a couple AA size Lithium Ion batteries?

I don't need plain Lithium batteries. I need Lithium Ion rechargable batteries. I have used shopping search engines, but I'm kind of suspicious of what they sell on there. Plus Li-Ion batteries start losing capacity right after they're manufactured. So I want to buy the battery straight from the people who make it. Does anyone know of some good companies that make Li-Ion AA size batteries?

(I need around 3.6V for nominal voltage, if you know that obscure statistic off the top of your head)

  1. Li-Ion batteries are touchy about being discharged so most Li-Ion batteries are sold as packs designed for a particular purpose rather than as a single cell such as an AA.  This is probably why you're having such trouble finding an AA size cell.

From the wiki article at the link below:

A stand-alone Li-ion cell must never be discharged below a certain voltage to avoid irreversible damage. Therefore all Li-ion battery systems are equipped with a circuit that shuts down the system when the battery is discharged below the predefined threshold.[12] It should thus be impossible to "deep discharge" the battery in a properly designed system during normal use. This is also one of the reasons Li-ion cells are rarely sold as such to consumers, but only as finished batteries designed to fit a particular system.

  2. Try www.thomasdistributing.com, they have them and they are a good company.

  3. I'd try Batteries Plus. I've bought a bunch from them and they'e good and fast. And they have every kind of battery.
