there are many old cd discs around have each child bring in two. Glue them label to label put a string in the hole and let the rainbows do the rest

This might be over ambitious or messy but you can have them dip marbles into paint and roll them around the paper. It looks so cool in the end

I love watching kids paint. It really depends on your theme, but the great thing is that kids can paint with anything....string, marbles (in a pringles can with a lil paint & piece of construction paper, & shake), paint brushes, gloves/mittens, you could try real painter's paint brushes on large sheets of bulletin board paper, they could run cars/trucks (like hotwheels) through paint and onto paper.

I also like to have kids use a paintbrush to paint glue all over a piece of construction paper, then (using salt shakers) allow them to shake different colors of sand onto the glue. It's a mess, but they love it and it turns out pretty.

Try to avoid "crafts" where you cut out everything, and show them exactly where to glue everything. As you may know, these types of crafts are not developmentally appropriate for kids, because there is no creativity involved.

play dough or clay,

cutting and pasting,

collage with either natural materials (leaves, sticks etc) or

with peices of paper,

making things with boxes (putting boxes together with other boxes)

mosaic - I have seen this done by 4 & 5 year olds although they need a fair bit of adult help.
