I need a credit card for internet purchases?

I want a card with a $500 limit in case the # is stolen. My regular card company says I am not responsible if my card is fraudently and will issue me a card with a $5000 limit . Is there a card out there for this reason ?

  1. You can go to Target, Walgreens type store and buy a DEBIT card for such value;

    for the internet purchase.

    Just be careful to who you give such card number + + to.

First, U.S. law states that you are only liable for the first $50 in fraudulent charges, so regardless of whether your limit is 500 or 5000, you will be on the hook for the same amount either way.  Second, most card companies write off the $50 for customer service and relationship reasons.  (On a side note, this is exactly why extra credit card protection is useless for you and a great profit maker for the issuer).

    Most card companies prefer higher credit limits cause they can make more money from more purchases.
