I need a credit card to improve my credit.

If your credit is already shot, look in your local yellow pages for a private loan company.  One that will give you a small loan.  Pay that back as quick as possible and then get another larger one, and so on.

if its not shot, any bank that issues visa or mastercard is a good place to start.

The best way is to increase your available credit relative to what you have used.  If you can get your lines increased and not use the increase, your credit will go up.  Check myfico.com for tips.  They are the rating people that banks use.
