I need a crossbow for hunting deer maybe elk. What is the most cost effective I can get, and at what site?

My brother has an injured left arm and so can't use a regular bow, and crossbow is allowed for him. I can also **** it. I started looking at crossbows and man! they have gone up. I'm not that familiar with hunting with crossbows and I could use some advice. I don't need frills or thrills, just something to do the job, and do it effectively for the best price I can get cause things are tight. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I am buying a crossbow at the end of this month and have litterally been on line every day researching.  Here is what I have found:

There are several Oriental manufacturers, same quality as over-priced North Americian, slightly less fps(by 20-40, really not much)  Prices are half for shipping as they are all in States.
