  1. I got mine at the bit Filenes Basement Wedding Dress Blowout sale thing.  I went last January and it was so much fun. I brought my sister (MOH) and my now mother-in-law.  I ended up getting my dress for $250 and it was a dress that would normally be over $2000. Wear a tank top or tube top and bicycle shorts or something (or whatever you'll be wearing under your dress), because there are no dressing rooms. I just had the people I went with go get dresses and I tried them all on. I told them specifically what I was looking for and had some pics of random dresses. We found the perfect dress! I'd get there before they open, we got there about 15 min. after and most of the dresses were off the rack, but we were still able to bargain dresses that I found for other dresses I wanted. Bring people who aren't afraid to go try to get dresses from others, if they are shy, they may not be help with that (but may be helpful in helping you get dressed and stuff). Some people had signs "Size 3-5", ""Size 12 Vera Wang" or "Size 6 Ivory" and so on, but we didn't.

    I'd check to see if they are having one sometime soon before your wedding. The dates are on the following website, depending on where you are from.  All the dresses are $250, $499 or $699 I think and they are all designer dresses.  It's just an idea, but it is fun and not that much money!

  2. I got my dress from DAVID'S BRIDAL on sale for $200.  End of season, exactly what I wanted.  The costly part was alterations...

    Even if you get it on EBAY, you're probably going to have to alter it.  Just getting the hem line done, along with the layers of stuff underneath, cost $155.

    So if you have any seamstress friends, now's the time to call in a favor.  ;o)

    David's is a great place to start trying things on... just don't go on a weekend if you can avoid it.  You'll need attention, not a rush-job.  And bring someone with you, and a digital camera.  You won't remember what you tried on after dress #4.

    Then, you can shop the same dresses on EBAY if you like.  Once you know the model number, or at least the style that you want, you can get a dress just about anywhere.

    Good luck!  You'll be a beautiful bride.

  3. There are lots of places where you can get a nice dress for a good price.

    David's Bridal has a great online collection. The dresses are very decently priced:

    Target also sells wedding dresses online:

    You can also check into used wedding gowns. A lot of the times you can find designer gowns for a really good price.

  4. Hi I too am after an affordable gown which is simple but still elegant and pretty

    I found this range my favourate as they are different yet very simple, its called Paloma blanca, most of the dresses are this years so next year they could go down in price if you visit a store selling this range.

    The price ranges are approx £700 - £1200

    heres the link;

    Another idea is this

    search for your perfect wedding gown and search for it either on eBay or sites were people are selling their own....it could be there

    try this one;

  5. Think about online shopping like Ebay and consider less formal dresses. Sometimes you can get a dress in white or ivory that is not necessarily a bridal gown and, as such, will cost you less.

  6. www.theknot.com

  7. Nude weddings always make me cry.

  8. I would try Target as the first poster already mentioned.  I bought mine here http://www.peridress.com and it turned out really well! I would consider doing that but the dress will likely still need to be altered and dry cleaned.
