It needs to be pretty generic (no specific fairy tale) and gender neutral. Also, no Disney (as the library I work for has to go and get permission). Fingerplays are fine as well.

  1. I don't know how many fairy tale songs you'll find without a copyright but Nursery Rhymes are a good alternative.  Hey Diddle Diddle is a great one.  You can get the kids to dress up like the characters and act out the motions.  Some other good ones are The Itsy Bitsy Spider, 5 little ducks went out to play, Baby Bumble Bee, The Farmer in the Dell, Old MacDonald, Mary Had a Little Lamb, and any of the childhood favorites.  It depends on what you're doing with the songs I guess.  If you're putting on a production stick with nursery rhymes.  If you're just looking to keep the kids entertained go with fingerplays.  One that never fails is Icky Sticky Bubblegum.  It doesn't really have a tune (you can just make one up), but it goes like this: "Icky Sticky Bubblegum, bubblegum, bubblegum, Icky sticky bubblegum, and it sticks right to your (call on a child here to pick a body part).  And you pull it (mime pulling bubblegum from this area) and you pull it and you pull it pull it pull it.  EWWWWW!"  The kids in my class LOVE this and they get such a giggle out of it.  Hope this helps!

  2. I would pick a tune and make up your own words, because a lot of fairy tale songs are not generic or gender neutral.

  3. Yes I know a great story that may already be in you children's library. It is called The True Story About the Three Little Pigs. Here is a complete on-line version of the story but the physical text can be found in almost any children public library. The second site includes extension activities for the kids. Good Luck.

I love my good n plenty, Charley said it really taste so well....Charley said I love my good n plenty dont know any other candy that I love so well...Chew Charley,Chew Charley........It has no reason other than to promote good n plenty candy but we liked it and now Im 26 and still remember the song and like it still...........also Im not sure if you need this for work or home but someone also just told me their mom taught them their colors using M&M's candy......I noticing candy isnt all that bad   :)
