  1. Ingredients: Mentos and 2 litre Diet Coke.

Instruction: Drop Mentos into diet coke bottle

    Result: Fun.

  2. This is pretty quick, easy and can result in a good grade if you write a paper explaining the practical benefits of the experiment in solar heating.

Get a science thermometer, in Celcius, and measure the temperature reached by boiling water, both without any additives (should be 100 degrees Celcius), and with disissolved amounts of chemicals, (try salt, cobalt chloride, and any other chemicals you can cheaply get at a pharmacy or hobby store which dissolve). The more solutions brought to a boil and measured, with different chemicals and different amounts dissolved, the better. Put the results on a chart or charts, showing the differing amounts of each chemical in solution and the boiling temperatures reached. Make a display board with the chart and write up the paper with your conclusions about what will yeild more heat in a solar water energy collector. The more imagination and neatness you show on the layout and in the paper, the better the grade.
