My daughter is also turning 13 this year.  She loves jewelry.  They are really into charm bracelets now.  Apparently they are making a come back.  You can get her a charm bracelet and then buy a special charm for her 13th birthday.  Then for other special occasions she can add to it.

rachel's idea of jewelry is a great idea. Even a charm bracelet would work. They seem to be popular and charms are more personal, because everyone collects different ones for different reasons, no two bracelets/necklaces would be alike. If she is in to religion, a cross neclace would do too. Ask the family of her what her interest are. Even a journal or some kind of engraved box or something would be personal. Good luck.

If she is like any thirteen year old then she is into Hannah Montana and High School Musical. If you live in the U.S. you can go to the nearest Macy's. They carry clothing of both. They are world wide so there has to be somewhere to find them.

If you want to go simple but precious I would say a locket. Every girl needs one to put the picture of her crush or her parents.

She's not "mature", she's still twelve years old. Don't push her into being an adult just yet when she's only about to be a teen...especially since it sounds like everyone else will.
