Okay, so I'm only fifteen years but actually a fairly great cook. I want to make dinner for my dad tonight, and his favorite food is meatloaf. So i need a recipe that is REALLY actually tasty, but doesn't require a million ingredients. Also Some other simple recipes that go good with meatloaf being the main course.

Please give me recipes you've actually made & tasted before.

Please don't just copy and paste one from the internet, i could have done that myself.

thank you :)

  4. this is my meatloaf recipe and is very good, tasty and we love it...

the sausage gives it a little bit of a kick and much more flavor than just using ground beef by itself...

    1 1/2 pounds ground beef

1/2 pound hot sausage (breakfast sausage, like Owens)

    1 1/4 teaspoons salt

    1 egg

    1 dash ground black pepper

    1 cup soft bread crumbs

    1/3 cup steak sauce, ( Heinz 57, A1 etc.)

    2 small cans tomato sauce

    1 onion, chopped

    1/2 cup shredded carrots

1/2 cup diced green bell pepper (may use yellow or red)

    DIRECTIONS

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch loaf pan.

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, sausage, salt, egg, black pepper and bread crumbs. Pour in the milk, 1 can tomato sauce, 3 tablespoons of the steak sauce, onion, carrots and bell pepper.

Place the mixture into the prepared loaf pan and shape into a loaf. Brush the top with the remaining steak sauce, and pour the remaining can of tomato sauce on top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until done. Allow to stand 5 minutes before slicing.

    Good Eating...............   :)

  5. ***Family Meatloaf***

1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef

1/2 cup crushed buttery round crackers (Ritz)

    3/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

    1 medium onion, chopped

    1 small bell pepper, diced

    2 eggs, beaten

    1/4 cup ketchup

    2 tablespoons steak sauce

    DIRECTIONS

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Stir the ground beef, crushed crackers, Cheddar cheese,  onion, peppers  in a large bowl until well combined. Whisk the eggs, ketchup, and steak sauce in a separate bowl until smooth. Mix the eggs into the meat until evenly combined. Shape into a loaf and place in a baking pan.

Bake in preheated oven until the meatloaf reaches 160 degrees F (71 degrees C) and is no longer pink in the center, 45 to 60 minutes.

  6. Place about 3# ground meat in large bowl.  Add 1 slightly beaten egg.

Add spices you like (salt, lpepper, garlic salt, whatever).*  Add bread crumbs or cracker crumbs to make fairly firm.  Form into loaf, place in loaf pan, bake at 350 for about 1 hour.

    * - I sometimes add dehydrated vegetable flakes or 1/2 envelope  of french onion soup mix.

  7. I make this every week and my family love it:

    Ingredients

    l lb ground beef

    2 slices bread, crumbled

    1/3 cup ketchup

    1/4 cup water

    5 dashes tabasco

    1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

    1 tsp salt

    1 egg lightly beaten

    Method

Mix all together and form into a loaf.

    Bake 45 minutes at 350 F (175C).

Remove from the oven and pour ketchup on top.

Return to oven for another 15 minutes.

Could anything be easier? Hope you enjoy it, and your Dad.

  8. I like simple easy things too. Here's the recipe I've been using for 35 years. Enjoy.

    2 lbs lean ground beef

    1 medium chopped onion

    2 eggs

1 8 oz can tomato sauce

4-5 splashes of Worcestershire sauce (I  never measure this...I just splash it in)

about 3/4 of a stack of good saltine crackers, crumbled

You want a consistency that is not too dry, but not sloppy wet. Add more crackers if it's too wet. Add some ketchup if it's too dry.

Mix all the ingredients well. Form into a loaf shape on a baking sheet with edges, because you will get juice out of it.

Bake at 350 degrees F for an hour. Remove from the oven and slather the top with 1/4 cup chili sauce mixed with 1 Tablespoon of brown sugar. Bake another 10 minutes.

  10. this is as simple and as basic as you can get:

(yes, ive made it, and yes i love it)

    ground beef

mixed spices (pepper, salt, thyme, onion powder, garlic powder, rosemary, basil, oregano)

    a slice of bread

    an egg

    mix.

    bake.

    sauce:

3 parts ketchup, 1 part brown sugar, splash of worchestershire sauce...

you dont even need to follow that, i mean, its pretty basic, and of course if you doctor it up a bit, it'll be even better.  after making the basic recipe for a while, i discovered that using a pound of ground beef with half a pound of ground pork and another half pound of ground veal will really make the loaf (or meatball, as i use the same recipe) taste a lot better.

also, i dont put in separate spices, actually i'll either use a large dose of Mrs. Dash or Montreal marinade seasoning by McCormick, which already comes with all that mixed spices, that way i dont have to go nuts with it....  makes it even more simpler.

as for the bread, you can use raisin, sourdough, regular white, brown... ive used all those, and it doesnt really matter...

doctor the basic recipe to your liking... if you like spinach, go ahead and chop up some baby spinach to put in there.  if you want cheese, go for it.  just experiment, thats really the best way.

  11. Cook it.
