Question:

I need a good boy name!!?

My partner and I can't agree on a name if we have a boy.

Names I love: Maddox, Logan and Clay

Names he loves: Thor, Tyr (Teer) and Gavin

Does anyone have any idea what we can do? We agreed on a girl's name right away (Lilja), but we're having so much trouble agreeing on a boy's. Help! Any suggestion? We want a name that is unusual like our daughter's (Elora). Don't tell me not to use an unusual name, you're not going to change my mind!

  1. I like Logan and Gavin. I think you have better taste, because even though I love Gavin, Thor and Tyr are very bad. Try to get gim to let you pick the first name and let him pick the middle.

  2. I don't really like any of those names except Thor.

It seems there is a big fad going on, I mean

These were listed in the top 50 most popular names last year

    17. Logan

    32. Gavin

    That's not exactly unique =/

Also a big influx in maddox being used.

  3. adrien

    carlson

    Omari

    Dakarai

    Lian

    Bao

    Tiago

    Fabio

    Celio

    Asher

    Kiefer

(Good Luck With Your Brand New Baby)

  4. Thor????? Your husband is trippin'! Anyway, I would go with Logan or Gavin. Maddox MAYBE.

  5. Maybe use a name you love as the first name and a name he loves as the middle name? I love unusual names!

  6. Just combine them!

    Clay Gavin

    Maddox Tyr

    Logan Try

    Gavin Clay

    Tyr Logan

    Gavin Maddox

  7. Theodore (Theo) - (Thor + Maddox)

    Logan Tyr -

    Gavin Clayton

    Quincy

    Troy

    Allen

    Derry

    Gordon

    Caden

    Ruse

  8. Some male irish names are really beautiful an unique.

    Deaglan/Declan (pronounced deck-lan)

    Dubhlainn (pronounced dove-lin) or Doolin

    Eamon (promounced aim-in)

    Ronan

    Ruari (pronounce ro-ree)

    Seamus (shay-muss)

    Tierney

All of these names also have very cool translations/symbolic meanings

  9. Oscar Is Quite Cute and Lovable! x

  10. Maddox Tyr-- use both!

    Other names:

    Braeden

    Braxton

    Allister

    Cannon

    Hampton

    Clayton

    Landon

    Carter

    Tristan

    Mitchell

    Grant

    Dunno...just some ideas-

  11. I like Gavin or Logan. those are two of the names I have picked out. Or you can put the names together. I think Logan Tyr is cute! and original

  12. okay... PLEASE don't name your kid thor!!! go online and look up baby names. or buy a baby book. or maybe you can make a list of all the names you like the most and figure out a unique way to spell them. that's what my mom did. she liked ava and anastacia, and put them together... avastacia(my sister's name). or you could name him after someone; i'm named after my dad, his name is cedric. you could try to do the same. just remember that this name will possibly shape the child's life, so be sure not to choose a silly name. unique is one thing, but stupid is another! hope i helped!

  13. Gavin

  14. I really like the name Gavin. It is unique, yet classic.

I would vote no to Thor and Tyr as first names. They sound a bit too put-on. Besides Thor and Elora would be really cheesy.

Maddox and Logan are unisex names, so they wouldn't be my first choice for a boy's first name.

    Perhaps you could try:

    Gavin Clay

    Gavin Clayton

    Clayton Thor

    Gavin Maddox

    Best wishes!

  15. aiden, coal, damien, noah (:

  16. Well, are you going to do a first and middle name? If so, pick one you like and one your partner likes. (This does raise the argument of which name comes first however)

But out of all 6 names I'm more partial to all of yours, & Gavin. Thor would guarantee merciless teasing for the rest of his life. and Tyr would require him to explain the pronunciation for the rest of his life.

  17. Name him after you... Teegan is cute and can go for either a boy or a girl!

Tyr and Thor- please don't put that poor baby through that for the rest of his life!

  18. Logan and Gavin are equally good, but not both together.

I like Logan a bit better.

  19. Gavin was what my husband and I were going to use but ours turned out to be a girl.

  20. You could combine two names eg. Gavin-Clay, Logan Tyr

  21. How about Logan Tyr, or Maddox Thor(this name sounds strong, sturdy, masculine), or Gavin Clay, hope these helped! I believe a name is what the child grows to be!

  22. each pick a favorite name and then put it together as a compromise, the way they do with celebs names (brangelina, tomkat) etc

  23. Andy or Allen

  24. Here are some combos of the names you've both chosen:

Maddox Tyr: This name conjures up the image of a little tough guy! He sounds like a spunky, fun kid!

Logan Thor: This name conjures up the image of a scholar/deep thinker. He seems soft-spoken, maybe a bit sensitive, and extremely thoughtful.

Gavin Clay: This name conjures up the image of a mini rock star! He sounds like he'd practically come out the womb banging pots and pans or writing lyrics LOL!

Out of all of these, I like Gavin Clay the best. Since you want something unsual, however, I'd be sure to check the baby naming trends over the last few years so he doesn't end up being the third kid in his class with the same name! Good luck :)

  25. What about: Brock, Jett, Docker, Levi, Raleigh, Cooper, Ryder, Cyrus, Shale, Easton, Braxton, Sawyer, Dawson, Fisher, Talon, Becket, Dalton, Maxum, Drake or Tanner?

  26. Nick,Gabe,or Mike

  28. The only one I like is logan, or thoran like jj said. And would you really name your kid thor? Not that I'm close minded or anything but regardless of whether or not you choose a unique name you should make it sound nice...

  29. I like Maxell, Logan, and Gavin the best. I think the name Thoran is cool too. I also like the name Grayson or Brayson for a boy.

  30. Why not comprimise and have one as the middle, you can call him either if you want :)

Clay, Gavin and Logan are really cute name.

    Clay Gavin

    Gavin Clay

    Logan Gavin

    Gavin Logan

    :)

  31. My favorite boy names are William, Aiden, and Liam. I thing that they are kind of different. I also agree with you and like Logan, but I also like Gavin.

    Hope this helps :)
