  1. I work in a prop house. We do set design, custom props, signs blah, blah blah. In my spare time I do fine art, and some custom paint on the side, so I have an airbrush in my hand almost daily. I haven't used a micron yet, but I'm sure they're awesome. I am however an Iwata guy. My daily workhorses are a couple of older HP-C's, and the new and improved HP-C plus. This is a great all around gun. From super smooth fades to hairlines, it does it all. All newer Iwata's, now come with teflon needle packing, so urethane's and solvents wrecking your seals are a thing of the past. Well maybe not totally, but they'll last a h**l of a lot longer than they used to. If price isn't an option, I'd go ahead and get the Micron, and an HP-C plus.

If you're going to be getting in to custom paint. You'll need to start looking into some spray guns as well. Sata used to be the best, hands down, but in the past few years, Iwata have been making some guns that are giving those German boys a run for their money. I actually know of a few, very well known custom painters who have completely switched from Sata to Iwata. I've used a couple of them, but haven't bought one yet, because I'm broke.

Just in case you don't already know about it. Here's a great custom paint forum.http://www.airbrushtech.net/

It's free, so just sign up and start asking questions. There are some great and friendly artists there, and they're always more than willing to help. Sometimes some of the famous guys will chime in too.
