With horses of course! High school blows, I can't wait to graduate, but i seriously need to start thinking about a career. I've put a lot of thought into it and I can't see myself doing anything else but being around horses. (i could NOT work in an office environment or sit at a desk all day! i'd go insane) I've considered being a jockey (who hasn't?) cuz im 5"4 and weigh 114. But for the college payments i would have to take out a loan (you have to pay every month ahead of time!) I've also thought about going to college and getting a degree in buisiness and then manageing a breeding/boarding stable or something.

So i know what i want to work with, i just have no clue which job to pick.

Anyone have some ideas?

Anyone have those jobs I mentioned? How are they working out for you?

  1. Check out the book "Careers with Horses: A Comprehensive Guide to Finding Your Dream Job"

I just got it about a month ago, and it's really helpful. There are over 200 job profiles (AKA 200 horse jobs!) listed, with helpful stats, like average pay, education needed, job details, etc.

There's also a section on equestrian colleges/scholarships, and a load of references and additional resources!

  2. There are student loans that you don't have to repay until after you graduate or drop to less than full time.

You can major in Equine sciences or some similar subject, or possibly you might like to become a vet tech and get special certification to work with horses.  I'm sorry but even though you are tiny, you would still be considered too "big" to be a jockey (seriously, you should see how freakishly little those guys are.)  But if you want a career with horses, there are really a lot of possibilities out there.  You can even just go to a local stable and start asking questions.  Or attend a horse show and start asking questions.  Or a rodeo.  Look around you, opportunities are everywhere if you look for them.

    Good luck!

  3. If you are new to the world of loans, then all the jargon and terminology can seem very confusing. There are so many different terms to understand, and unless you know some of them you will not find the best loan deal to suit your needs. If you want to know more, then here is a guide to some of the basic loan terms you might need to know. When you borrow money in the form of a loan, the money you receive is called an advance. The more money you want to borrow, then the bigger your loan advance. It is called an advance because you are getting the money in advance of paying for it.The APR, or Annual Percentage Rate, is the amount of interest you are charged on your loan amount. This amount is written as a percentage, and refers to the total you are charged each year. APR is one of the primary features for comparison between loans, as it is a standard measurement for all loans.

The lower the APR, then the cheaper the loan interest will be. Credit scoring is a method that lenders use to determine your eligibility for a loan. They ask a series of questions about your earnings and financial situation. Each answer you give is scored, and the better your score then the more likely you are to be accepted for a loan. If you score badly then you might be declined for the loan you want. The loan term is the agreed time over which you will repay the loan. You will repay the loan monthly over this period until the loan and interest is fully paid back. Loan terms on personal loans usually range from about 1 to 10 years, with mortgage loan terms being longer at around 15 to 25 years. The longer the loan term, the less your monthly payments will be, but the more you will have to pay back in interest over the years.

  4. get a job at the kentucky horse park in lexington, ky

  5. If you wanted to work with a medical things, you could be an equine vet. I'm pretty sure the course is only three or four years. I know it is much shorter than becoming a veterinarian, because that takes 8 years. You could do equine management, it is a course for starting a business where you open a barn. You could learn to train horses, and check on Google and Yahoo. They could list some good jobs. There are many possibilities.

  6. I'm gonna do something with horses when i grow up to. (im 13, middle skool blows, lol) i either wanna be a horse trainer or run a boarding facility or start my own horse breeding thing. It would also be cool to run like a horse rescue and you could hire vets and stuff, that would be cool.

  7. Obviously you're sure you want to work with horses, and there are many jobs out there, here are a few:

    Mounted Police

    Jockey

    Horse Riding Instructor

    Groom

    Yard Owner

    Trainer

    Vet

Teacher of Horse Care At A School

    Breeder

    Horse Farmer

    Farrier

    Horse Dentist

    Hope this helps

  8. omg i hate school too and offices too hahaha but you could be a working student for someone famous after high school for a few years while attending collage and after that you could open up a boading/training barn...OR you could be an equine vet but that takes a lot of collage so it may not be a good option...or you could start like a tack/riding clothes buisness and that would bring in lots of $ so u could have ur own private small barn with ur own horses...or you could work @ some show grounds...or you could be a judge...or you could just forget about collage and go and be a grand prix rider...and yup thts all i can think of haha =]]

  9. you can search "jobs with horses" on google

i searched "jobs with animals" and now i picked out and hoping to be a vet tech (:

  10. First if u think u really want to work with horses. Start from the bottom of da Stable Mgt business. get a job as a stable hand, cleaning stalls, grooming, mayb evn excercising the horses. While on the side u can pick up some books or classes on Therauputic Massage {yes alot of ur race horses get massages to keep their limbs loose enuf 2 race} and Horse Physiology & Anatomy. Then if u decide this is all 2 much manual labor u will at least have the proper background knowledge with which to apply the Business/Accounting & Management decisions u'll need 2 make 2 run a Stable.
