You could dress up like Robin Hood, my brother's brother in law's wife made him a costume of green shirt, tights, and belt with a hat of felt. She gave him a toy bow and arrow set to put over his shoulder. He was quite a hit with the ladies but they took the mick out of him about having "the best legs there" The shirt was long enough to cover bum and bits.

A successful fancy dress I once made was porcupine. Wear all brown clothes and buy a cheap, large brown T-Shirt from Primark or somewhere. Cut out the back and stick on wooden toothpicks all over with fabric glue. It was a great!

Smurf is also fun - get some good quality blue body paint and get a friend to cover your body including face and back so it's even. If you're a guy, just wear white long short. If you're a girl, wear the white dress and for both, white shoes. Then simply wrap a towel round your head, like you do when drying hair, and your Smurf costume is done.

Another cool and fairly easy outfit is this. Wear brown or yellow shoes, yellow tights and a yellow dress. Dye your hair green and put it in a spikey updo. Hey presto - you're a pineapple!

Buy some fabric in a few different fall-colors (brown, orange, yellow, red) and cut out pieces the size and shape of leaves using a template. Then stitch them onto the dress every few inches from bottom to top, and go as a pile of leaves.

I went as a lady boxer once !  Shorts, t-shirt, dressing gown, kids play boxing gloves, and an old red tie around my head as a sweatband ! Oh I won 1st prize too.
