I'm making a cake for a babyshower and it's going to be covered in fondant.

  2. MARBLE SPICE CAKE

    1 1/2 stick butter, softened

    1 c. sugar

    2 eggs, at room temperature

    2 1/4 c. cake flour

    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder

    1/2 tsp. salt

    1/2 tsp. cloves

    1/2 tsp. nutmeg

    3/4 c. milk

    2 tbsp. molasses

    2 tsp. cinnamon

    1/2 tsp. mace (optional)

    Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 9x13 inch pan. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy, beat in eggs, beat in 1 cup flour, baking powder, and salt. Beat in remaining flour alternately with milk. Spoon 1/3 of batter into small bowl, stir in molasses and spices until mixed smooth.

    Spoon half of batter in prepared pan, then spiced batter, then rest of plain batter. With knife, cut through batter several times for marble effect. Bake at 350 degrees until center springs back when pressed cool and frost.

    MARBLE SWIRL POUND CAKE

    Makes 16 servings.

    2 c. sugar

    1 c. butter, softened

    3 c. flour

    1 c. milk

    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

    2 tsp. vanilla

    1/4 tsp. salt

    4 eggs

    1/4 c. cocoa

    Grease a 10" tube pan. In a large bowl with mixer at low speed, beat sugar and butter/butter until blended. Increase to high; beat until light and fluffy. Add all remaining ingredients except cocoa. Beat at low speed until mixed, scraping constantly. Increase to high speed and beat 4 minutes longer, scraping occasionally. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove about 2 1/2 cups batter to medium bowl, and beat in cocoa powder with wire whisk or fork. Alternately spoon vanilla and chocolate batters into pan. With large spoon, cut and twist through batters to marble.

    Bake 1 hour, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack 10 minutes. Loosen cake edges and remove from pan. Cool completely on rack.

  4. you can mix yellow cake then put it in a tin then a chocolate cake and then put it over the yellow cake mix and makeswirls woith a knife in it and it would look really nice
