I need a good serious anime like Death Note, it is briliant! So I need another really good one, any ideas?

Death Note was fantastic, I really need another good one like it or if there are even better ones than Death Note out there then that would be awesome! Please give me really good ones which keep you in suspense, keep you hooked, there are lots of twists and surprises and the storyline is totally unique like Death Note!

Monster it better than death note in my opinion. Here's a summary.

Kenzou Tenma, a Japanese brain surgeon in Germany, had it all: incredible skill at his work, a rich and beautiful fiancee, and a promising career at his hospital. However, after becoming disenchanted by hospital politics, he chose to save the life of a young boy who got shot in the head over the life of the mayor. As a result he lost the support of the hospital director, as well as his position in the hospital and his fiance. A short time later, the hospital director and the doctors that replaced him were murdered, and once again he was catapulted back onto the top. But as the chief suspect of the murders, Tenma did not get a easy life. As a matter of fact, it seems that the boy he saved was much more than he had appeared to be... Now to clear his name and to correct his past mistake, Tenma must get to the bottom of these and other murders, and investigate the truth of the Monster who is behind all of this.

This has been out for a while so think there is an english dub, you just have to look for it.

Well, if you're into the mainstream sort of thing [since DN is MAINSTREAM] just stay where you are in terms of that. But if you want something smart such as DeathNote, they has psychological aspects, character involvement [in this instance, maturity] I think you should watch:

Boogiepop Phantom [can be a puzzler]

Serial Experiements Lain [confusing at times]

If you like the "blood/gore complex of DN try:

Elfen Lied [shows how truley cruel humans are]

Dokuro-chan [funny, ecchi like, gore]

Satoshi-kon is your best bet in movies, since he does do a great way with manipulation and psychological aspects as well.. he worked on/created:

Hm,how about Monster and Code Geass?

Monster is a horror/psychological(it's VERY good), Code Geass is mecha/sci fi but deals with similiar themes it's like Death Note with mecha.
