I loves me the food. Seriously, I'm a canadian, a food lover, and I have one free dinner this Monday in Atlanta. Well, actually, I land around dinner time at the Atlanta airport and then need ot head to Norcross to sleep. I'm looking for Southern food - not to be too cliched or anything - because when I've had it i've loved it and I would like something representative of the area. Southern influenced, anyway. Anything wonderful to recommend? On the way to Norcross would be great (which is why I have mentoned Decatur as a possibility).

See, I'm hungry just thinking about it.

  1. Depending from which direction your coming OK Café may be on your day to Norcross. It  is a 50s style diner and has lots of Southern styled food.

In Norcross there is a Folk’s and Cracker Barrel, both serving very good home cooking style dishes - country fried steaks, pot roasts, etc.

If you’re looking for something more upscale try the South City Kitchen, it’s on Crescent Avenue and there is one in the Vinings Area as well. They have some of the best fried chicken I have ever eaten.

  2. mathew's cafeteria in Tucker, GA

  3. "Mary's Mac" is o.k. "Harold's Barbecue" has the best Brunswick Stew and cranklin' cornbread, plus good barbecue sandwiches. They are in Lakewood Heights, on the South side of town.

  4. Mary Mac's Tea Room
