There's a big issue in my town dealing with curfews, I strongly believe that the mayor sholud enact the curfew to 10pm for children under the age of 18, because it can save many lives. My reasons for this are : Having a 10pm curfew will lower the risks of drunk driving. It will most definitely lower the crime rate in our community. Also, there is no reason why a child needs to stay out that late at night unless they are in a sport, school, church, etc.

Public safety issue.  Keeps children out of trouble, and ultimately out of dentention centers.

Children who are home earlier, will, hopefully, go to bed earlier.  Children need sleep in order to perform well in school.  Children who perform well in school usually have higher academic and professional goals for themselves, which leads to successful adults.  Successful adult lives means less adults making minimum wage and less people on welfare.

There are many, many reasons why a curfew is a good thing, and the benefits on the child, his family, and society can only be good.  There are no disadvantages to a child having a curfew.

I do agree that children should have a curfew but I don't think it should be the job of the city, mayor, or police department to police someone's child. If you don't know where your kids are at 1am, why the heck should we care?

that just leads to abritrary enforcment. so im 19 and if a cop thinks im under 18 he can stop me or pull me over and ID me for no reason. if im 17 and my dad sends me to the store for milk a cop can give me a ticket, come on now. Most crime by teenagers occurs between 2 and 5pm anyway. If kids under 18 are alredy breaking the law and drinking and driving, why whould they stop to obey a curfew? what you should try to do have a loitering curfew, where kids under 18 cannot be hangging out in the streets or in public or whatever.
