  1. Well Linksys is good..it will work fine with the HI-SPEED modems such as Motorola,Siemens, etc. Aside from being user friendly it's available in any DSL store. And if you have set-up your linksys already just ask your techinician or you can call Linksys--->1 877 820 0005 /1 800 286-9375 ( to make your wireless connection secure by activating the WEP(see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wired_Equiv... ) program so that no one can tap or steal your wireless connection and so that your connection will not go slow...Basically linksys works best for you coz you need a router that works well without spending much money.

  2. Like cars.. everyone has their favorite and you can probably find someone with a bad experience with any manufacturer.

    Here are the bid names...

    Linksys

    Netgear

    D-Link

Some lesser known yet reputable brands..

    Buffalo

    SMC

    Hawking

    Belkin

    Airlink101

Personally I've had good experience with D-Link, Linksys, and SMC.

I think D-Link tends to give you some "advanced" features for free. But unless you are a computer nerd and into Internet Time synchronization, Dynamic DNS updates, VPN, and advanced port forwarding.. you won't use those features and therefore Linksys or Netgear are fine.

Netgear seems to be a tad pricier then Linksys.  D-Link is somewhere in between.

SMC if you can find it, is cheaper then all 3.

Expect to pay about $49 for a WirelessG router.

    Stick with WirelessG if:

    A) the distance is less then 300ft.

    B) You don't copy DVD movies from 1 PC to another over wireless.

Standard 54mbps G devices are plenty fast for internet surfing. They can support up to 254 computers simultaneously, but I wouldn't push it more then 100.  So you 2 PCs will be fine.

Most inernet connections are under 10Mbps so 54Mbps is 5.4 times faster.

Wireless N, while it is faster and has greater range and is the "NEW" technology.. isn't really needed in most applications.

If you aren't transferring large files like DVDs over your network.. you don't need its 200Mbps speed.

Also, in most urban houses..Wireless N's range means you'll be potentially sharing your internet with everyone who drives by, and possibly neighbors 2 houses down from you.

Stick with a nice.. tried and true Wireless G router for $49.

  3. i have a linksys one and its pretty good. and we have 2 laptops.

  4. well you want the most range you can get the scale go something like this (not official just what I can think of right now) g<g+<n I have a g+ belkin router and it works good for my family and we have 4 laptops and one desktop that uses it so something like that should be good for you

  5. I have a Netgear. Works great. $80 @ Circuit City.

  6. I would suggest a netgear Rangemax NEXT. I have an older version of this router and its been great to me... :)

  7. Linksys routers are very good. Go for the new "N" standard. It will work with "G" but is a lot faster and more reliable.

You don't need to buy the top-of-the-line. Three computers won't tax most any Linksys router.

  8. The belkin 54 models seem to work great, and don't really cost an arm and a leg.

Dont forget to set up security on it when you do get one.

  9. Linksys is the most amazing thing ever for wireless. It will definitely work for three laptops. Linksys is so good that that actually use them in the army so i'm pretty sure it could work in your house. The ones to stay away from are probably going to be companies like Netgear and such cause, they just suck. I had netgear before i got my linksys and it was very confusing and it hardly even worked. I say linksys all the way. :)

  10. I use a linksys...its pretty cheap and it gets the job done. It has its ocasional problems (every couple weeks or so) but what router doesnt have occational problems. There easy to set up too step by step setup

    hope this helps

  11. Mac power extreme router, i think its about 120 dollars. It works ******** awesomeee.

  12. Stay away from Netgear.

    Go for linksys or belkin!

  13. Honestly, wireless sucks.. if you can get away with a wired connection it would be alot better although less convenient. However if you have no choice but to go with wireless, a Linksys wireless G router would be fine. I have a wireless N router and it seems to get interrupted somewhat easily while using the wireless G network adapter built into my laptop. Also the wireless G router is somewhat cheaper. But my only warning before buying a wireless router is the think about the possible interferences around your house for example the density and number of walls in between the router and device connected. Also at what angle they are connected, if your laptop is perpendicular to a single wall between you and the router it will be thinner than say at a 45 or less angle.

  14. this is a good place to find affordable wifi products.
