just go buy a Toyota highlander hybrid , do not waste your time on anything else . good enough for NYC taxi cabs they are basically maintenance free

Buy a hummer,

Several studies suggest that the hybrid cars from manufacture to junk yard will actually have a more adverse effect on the environment because of the extra manufacture requirements and disposal of the batteries.

So I would look for a high mileage auto that would be safe to drive with your family in it.
