I am just beginning, I have very small hands too, so I am finding it a little difficult. I would appreciate any input!! I'm on a college-kid's type of budget. What would you suggest I invest in? Links are appreciated too, thanks!!

  1. Acousitc for a beginner.  if you buy Electric you need a amp which costs more than electric guitar. Trust me, I know... I am guitar player too. I have both acoustic and electric. But started with acoustic.

"I just suggest you find a guitar that feels good in your hands and begs you to play. Try to be shallow at first and go with a guitar that looks cool to you. However, don't buy something just because your best friend thinks Johnny Guitarhero's the best so you should get his Wooden Wonder brand guitar with the killer apricot speckle finish. Try not to fall into that trap. The fact is that the company they represent is paying many guitarists and they may not even play the company's guitar but once a night because they aren't fond of it any more than you may be. Just be careful. " from a site.. below..

  2. I didn't know if you were looking for an Electric or Acoustic so here's what I found:

Here's a link pointing to some electric guitars for beginners

they highlight 3 guitar makers : Epiphone, Squier and Ibanez.

Ibanez's are good, some pros turn their noses up at Inbanez but they're alright especially for beginners. In any case these are good instruments with a decent price tag should you move on to something better when you turn pro! Besides, if you don't like the prices for any of these copy the models and find the same thing on Craigslist.org or Ebay.

  3. You'd be better off buying a guitar magazine, but acustic guitars are cheaper and more rythmical, I can advise foreign wood.

  4. well if ur just starting u should buy an acustic since they are probably the cheapest and easy to play. but since you said u have small hands, its more advicable to get a small classical (it comes in diff sizes) so u would be able to reach each fret and play each chord more easily. also on a side note, since u have small hands- stay away from steel strings!
