  1. You shoud get a sport helmet until you have mastered the sport!  Safety first, style later.

  2. I would definitely go with a regular schooling helmet. They're easier to keep clean, they come in fun colors, and you can always buy an inexpensive black velvet cover to put over it for showing. Make sure it fits you correctly, no matter what kind you get!

  3. well you should get a sport helmet it is way safer and fashionable

  4. These are popular helmets for schooling:

    Tipperary Sportage Plus Helmet

ATH™ with Interchangeable Strips & Dial Fit System™

You cant put a cover on the first one but it is really comfy and your head doesnt fry. The second might be better if you plan to show a little. I have 2 friends with the first helmet and 4 with the second. Most of the girls that have the ATH/IRH are under 12 and ride ponies.

I have this helmet for schooling:

It was my show helmet but the front split out (the white plastic that makes up the brim is showing). It is still good to ride in but the split is  not acceptable for hunters. Beware though, it makes your head look huge and it fries your brain. It is really comfy though and not to pricey.

I have this helmet for clinics and shows:

I have the black on black because I didnt think the silver stripe would go over real well with a dressage judge (I am starting eventing through Pony Club). The silver on black looks REALLY good though (in my opinion). I really like it though, its comfy, looks good, and the velvet hasnt mashed down when I accidently leave it upside down.

I would get a helmet that you can show in unless you are prepared to buy two. I wouldnt reccomend a skull cap. They are good helmets but you will turn heads (and not in a good way) if you ride in one around hunters. I would get a traditional 'hunter' helmet just incase you want to show.

  5. i do hunt seat and i dont show at all i just doo lessons and i just go this velvet like helmet, its wonderful and has a dial a fit system to fit over a ponytail or any odd shaped head

    GET IT http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h...

  6. If you don't show don't bother with the velvet helmets, the velvet gathers dust like a magnet, plus spot helmets are so much nicer with all the colors and such that they come in! Troxel is a great brand, they have lots of helmets to choose from and they are all really good.

  7. If you are not going to be doing shows then go with a helmet for practicing

  8. Personally, I love IRH. They make different colors, shapes, sizes. I like the black ones where you can change the front colored strip. They are always a very classic helmet. They are about $100-$125. They have the dial in the back too.

  9. you need to think of wot sort or riding you do, not how often you do it, something with a flexibal peak is a must for huntting, XC ect your velvet may be better looking but is it up to the job???

  10. skull caps are the best and safest....you can get a velvet cover
