Question:

I need a higher vertical!!!?

My vertical in currently 25 inches I need it to be 30inches because I am only about 5'8" and I really want to play volleyball in college and I am not good enough to play backrow. Is it possible for me to get my vertical up 5inches. I never do any weight lifting though I mostly just play volleyball. And I am a girl and I know that 30inches may be kinda hard for a girl to reach.

  1. Squats.  

    IF you don't want to go to the weight room, running hills will build your quads as well.  Also, jumping up onto a bench, then off, back on,etc will replicate what squatting would do.

  2. 30 is a lot, but not impossible.

    I personally have found that when you combine weight lifting and with the specific exercise you get the greatest gains. So in this case, doing calve raises, squats, jump squats, cleans etc. Then ending the workout with 3x10 wall jumps or 3x10 step up knee drives (with the step at least 1 foot and half off the ground).

  3. squats, lunges, and just standing in one place and jumping repeatedly. volleyball is a magnificent sport, is it not?? and just because you are a girl doesnt make a difference. i know a girl who can jump 40 inches easy.

  4. if u put ur mind to it, u can do it!!!

    u might want to jump about 10 times a day... each day, make the height to reach a little higher... if u stay committed, i think it will work... plus, u might still play volleyball in college even if u can jump 30 inches. if u practice hard, u can play the back row... never underestimate yourself

  5. squats, and things that strengthen your legs... willl give you more power in your legs to be able to reach a better height.
