China.

It is of interest to note that the Battle of Talas (751 CE) is seen as the key event in the technological transmission of the paper-making process. After the battle of Talas, knowledgeable Chinese prisoners of war were ordered to produce paper in Samarkand, and by the year 794 CE, a paper mill could be found in Baghdad, modern-day Iraq. The technology of paper making was thus transmitted to the Islamic world and later to the West.  

Again, during the reign of Ming Dynasty from 14th to 17th century (14th to 17th century coincided with the Age of Renaissance in Europe), through trades between China and Portuguese, Spanish and Dutch, many ideas were exchanged, such as on making of telescopes, and wheels and gears on sand-clocks (instead of water, the wheels were driven by sand in China), and other areas of scientific exchanges.  The method of extracting materials and composition of making gunpowder was imparted to the West.

The historical developments of earlier stages set the tone for progress towards the "scientific revolution", for without paper and printing, literacy rates on a mass level would not have been possible. Without exchanges of knowledge from the Ottoman Empire and from Central Asia, the progress would have been much impeded. The blockade imposed by the Ottoman Empire forced some European nations to seek sea routes to the East Indies to trade for spices. Maps (similar to those map by the Chinese) and compasses (invented by the Chinese) were used, and subsequently "New Worlds" were discovered.

Well Modern day Iraq Baghdad was like the capital of Knowledge and I believe the beginning of the Renascence well before the Europeans! Mecca was trading place where Different countries went to trade goods with each other! It was because of this place the prophet Mohamed used his evaluation skills to study and use other religions to help create a faith which would be only believers in the true God. They try to avoid describing God because people will make it an Idolatry! Know the romans created Ideas that would change Christianity! They started the Chaotic faith! Then the Idea of using saints and crosses became a custom to worship God! The trinity is an example of that! Know thanks to these and many other cultures people today innovated ways to make each technology and science to finish work faster and at a more productive rate for the public! But most of it is used in warfare!
