  1. You're never too old for Breyers!

I'm over 50, own 6 real horses, do 3 day eventing, and I love my Breyer horses.  My daughter's a horse vet on a racetrack, has her own horses, and loves her Breyer horses.  Don't let anyone tell you real horse people don't do plastic!!

Step the hobby up a notch - try some model horse shows.  They're actually a lot of fun.  Or get into "performance" stuff - make saddles, bridles, carts, and so on.  You can sell them on eBay for a little extra cash if they're perfect.

Other horse hobbies...  try to tie it in with something else you're good at.  If you draw, draw horses.  If you write, write horse stories.  Sew?  fancy saddle blankets with matching leg wraps.  Like to run?  See if you can find a riding partner for a "ride and run."

    Good Luck!

Edit:  Some people make a hobby of customizing models - changing the leg positions, resculpting, doing custom paint jobs. Some people sculpt their own models from the ground up, then have them cast, finished, custom painted, and sell them for hundreds of dollars. It's always fun, you learn a lot, and you can get known for it in the hobby. If you're really, good, you can even make money.

  2. Only thing I can think up would be craft related stuff. Whether making items out of horse theme/print material, or painting, or maybe working with leather and painting on the leather, or find horse related items to make jewelry with...

Edit: Ohh, the second person gave me a thought... If you are good at writing stories and can do your own illustrations, or work with a friend that can do them for you, you could create your own books and self publish on lulu.com

  3. Well, you could be a groom. That is if you want to be around actual horses. Otherwise, I think photography would be fun. Horses are wonderful subjects. You need to read photography tips if you never have.

    Here are couple I took:

If you don't like photography, I think Breyers are fine to collect for any age. If you do not think so, try the Trail of Painted Ponies.
