I need a little help for filling a re-entry permit?

I have plans of going back to my homeland to continue my studies and finish it their.I'll be out of the country for 7-9 mos.Do I need to file a re-entry permit?

You can stay outside the USA up to 1 year without a permit.  If there's any doubt that you might be gone over 1 year file for the permit at least 90 days BEFORE you leave the USA.

You can stay outside the USA up to 2 years with the permit.
