I need a little help on a two page essay I'm supposed to write about a special object I chose?

The pencil.. But I chose it because there is so much to write about with it.. I love art and design. So I draw a lot of clothing. I mean you can express your feelings in writing maybe more than you can in an actual conversation. I just need help putting this into the essay.. I mean is it stupid? It has to be a formal essay. How do I make it formal without explaining why it is important to me? I really need help.

you could mention the saying "the pen is mightier than the sword"  from Edward Bulwer-Lytton's play "Richelieu; Or the Conspiracy" the title of a play should be in italics but I can't do that on here.

to make it more formal don't use the word "I". It will require you to be creative in your wording but it isn't impossible.
