  1. According to inter-change manuals - yes

    My concern is the engine controls, in specific a knock sensor.

    I was not able to find a knock sensor for 1996 so I am left with the conclusion that it did not have any.

    Any other change to the engine management system should be easily solved by using the 97 parts.


  2. it should as long as the truck was redisigned from the previous year and had different engines offered. but the engine will be able to be swapped if its the same engine model
