  1. Oh yes, the are many, many bikes, in general called hybrids. They can range from almost MTBs to almost road bikes. Some have suspension some don't some have quite wide low PSI tires while others have quite narrow high PSI tires etc. Hit the bike shops, you'll see all the variations and can decide what you want.

  2. Is it a race?  Charity ride? Group ride?  On roads?  On a path?   On singletrack? Is it a one-time deal?  Do you ride a lot normally?

If I have to guess based on insufficient information, I would suggest a Trek Madone, 54cm.   Also, please give me your address, and normal day for garbage pick up in your neighborhood.   I want to know where to look when you get tired of it taking up space in your garage in a couple years.

Seriously, buying a new bike for a one-time-only event makes little sense.     Anything decent, regardless of type, will run you several hundred dollars.   Wouldn't you be better off fixing up what you've got?   Or do you have other future cycling plans that you didn't mention........

  3. no such bull spit as that man just by a road bike and use on a road thats smooth carry it when ur walking on ur cheap as third world country raod

  4. Well, what i would do is buy one of those dirt bike-looking bikes those can go really fast and there are easy to climb up hills with. Trust me, I have a best friend who has one and I have rode it. It was awesome.
