I need a new bike, and i need some advice.?

I need to get a new bike. I wanted something very similar to the Schwinn High Plains (my current bike). It needs to be lightweight, something made of aluminum. However it has to be strong, something sturdy. I want it to be fast, like a 21-speed or better. One thing i really look for are Rapid-Fire Thumb shifters. I am so used to them and they are really easy to use. Help me find something along those guidelines. I would prefer if i don't receive and road bikes since I don't like the way the handlebars look. Mountain bikes, BMX, and others are fine. Don't hold back, give me everything you find.

what is your budget? where do you do most of your riding? go to your LBS with these answers, and they can help you find a great bike. with your question as vague as it is, you won't get any quality answers here!
