I need a new camera!!!?

my brother broke my canon powershot s80. its in a million pieces now and i need some help in choosing a different camera. i WANT to stay with the canon brand and would like to know if there is any cannon camera that has almost the same features but better?? i loved how it had so many options and all the different things you could change. the only drawback that it had was it didnt have image stabilization. any comparisons would be great. money wise....i can only spend about 700 dollars. i cant find anything that is close to what i had. i dont know if i should move up to the canon dslr's or stay with the point and shoot. i need the help of all the photgraphy majors and picture/camera geniuses!!!

I have the Canon Rebel XTI, came with kit with larger lens. The camera itself is very easy to use. I enjoy taking pics, but husband bought this one for me and the quality of the pics makes me want to go into photography as a business. I would highly recomend this one. Happy shopping!!

If you like the Canon Powershot S80 so much, why don't you just get a new one?  It's a lot less than $700.  For $700 you can get pretty much whatever you want.  An SLR will work a lot better than a point and shoot.  It will have many more options and a much bigger/better sensor.  It will be bulky and no motion video mode though.  You might also want to consider an ultrazoom prosumer.  Personally, I would get a really compact digital camera, like the Fujifilm Finepix F100fd because I need the convenience of having it with me all the time.
