I need a new car but cant afford monthly payments and may not get government help because i have no kids help!

well your not going to beable to afford gas or insurance either if you get one.   all i got to say is get a better job or a part time job to bring in more money.  also theres public transportation.

Problems with this question:

1) Nobody needs a new car; it is debatable about whether you even need a used car.

2) The government does NOT provide help for luxuries; they help you get food and clothing for kids when you have them only if you can't do it on your own.

Having said that, if you can't afford the monthly payments on a car, you should try saving up the money to get a car so that you have a large down payment.  This will reduce the amount of the monthly payments on any loan you may get.  In the meantime, you can use public transportation, a bike, walking, rides from friends, etc to get around.  

Alternatively, you should start looking at cars that are closer to your price range.  Most people who don't qualify for public aide can scrape together $500-$1000 for a junker car in about 6mths if they really try.

You might have to just have the same car for a while longer. You might want to to try and do like a weekend job or something to earn a little more money each week/month.

You could also use public transport whilst saving.

Try and do as much as possible to earn as much money as possible

Go to the auction but take someone who knows about cars I got a good car 2006 200.00 no payments i needed headlights but that wasn't a problem. My brother goes to the auction all the time he found a nice Benz 500 2007  for 1.500 no payments or problems. There's An auction in Benica,ca, Oakland,ca, and if you go on-line under auctions you find them in your city don't go to craigslist most of the people there are selling bad cars
